Potwells Summer Glamping Adventure
In this frenetic world, spending time together as a family is very precious. We all lead busy lives juggling home life, our children’s social diaries (how many parties?!) and our careers – and sometimes we squeeze in some time for us!
Relief comes when we pack up the suitcase, palm the dog off and finally reconnect on a family holiday. Pre-kids that meant swanky hotels, room service and hours luxuriating around a pool with a book and a Pina Colada. Aww, bliss. But these days with our gorgeous families in tow, keeping them entertained and happy is the key to a great family holiday. For us, family holidays mean family adventures. And now our children have passed the baby and toddler stage, we can venture into the world of family festivals - and we love them!
Our favorite last year was Camp Bestival, an award-winning boutique music festival set on the Lulworth Estate. It’s family friendly with some wonderful camping and glamping options. This year we’re (considering) going again as the lineup looks great - Jess Glynne and Sister Sledge on the main stage, Messrs Tumble and Bloom, Wallace and Grommit for the little ones and the world’s biggest bouncy castle and a big top for all the big kids (us included!). We can rub shoulders with influencers and authors too - including one of my Insta favorites, Dress Like a Mum
Festivals can be hard work with children but once you’re there (and dependent on the weather), it’s fantastic. Everyone should spend at least one weekend at a festival. And if the idea of spending a weekend festival camping in self-catered, cramped, cold and muddy tents seems like a nightmare, you are not alone. We prefer the glamping option and it’s a fantastic compromise: a happy medium between a hotel room and a campervan.
And there are so many stunning options available now, including shikar tents, luxury yurts, tipis and gypsy caravans, glamping is not only more luxurious, but also more fun! Benefits include not having to set up, electricity and kitchen appliances (lights and kettle – bliss), family friendly ambience and less likely to flood. What’s not to love!
And for extra warmth and comfort, no glamping trip would be complete without one of our cosy long hot water bottles. Our children love to cuddle up with their favorite Potwells character - Ursula the Unicorn, Dustin the Dinosaur and Zavi the Zebra. Our 75cm long hot water bottles are lightweight and cleverly designed to trap heat to keep you warmer for longer. Perfect for extra warmth at the end of a crazy and fun day at a festival. Our hot water bottle characters also make great festival companions. They are lightweight so can be carried around, keeping your children warm whilst on the go – just in case we do get a wet and windy summer. Ursula, Zavi and Dustin love nothing more than enjoying a show, snuggling up around the fire or exploring the festival!
