Children and young people from Rainbows Hospice receive special warm cuddles from Potwells’ long hot water bottles

The children and young people of Rainbows Hospice today received some extra special cuddles from Zebras, Dinosaurs and Unicorns. The Leicestershire designed long hot water bottles offer fun and friendly hugs to keep children warm and cosy. Potwells’ joint-founder and local mum, Julie Ann Mclean visited Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People to see their designs thoroughly tested by the children (and big kids!).

The three designs - Ursula the Unicorn, Dustin the Dinosaur and Zavi the Zebra - will make welcome special guests at the hospice. The 75cm long bottles are ergonomically and cleverly designed with air bubbles on the body surface to trap heat, making them a comforting cuddle partner.

Potwells was set-up by Julie Ann McLean and Nicola Barnett in Leicestershire in 2013 while both mums were on maternity leave. Julie Anne and Nicola commented: “With seven children between us, we have seen first-hand how our designs have been used for comfort. We hope the children of Rainbows – and their grown-ups – find our huggable friends helpful when a special snuggle is needed.”

Emily Wright, Corporate Partnership Fundraiser, said: “A huge thank you to Potwells for this incredibly kind and generous donation; the hot water bottles are so cute and cuddly and have been so gratefully received by everyone here at Rainbows.”

Potwells has grown from its rural Leicestershire base to become an established luxury children’s brand. The hot water bottle design was based on an existing adult version and then tailored for children with the help of Potwells’ own seven-strong ‘expert panel’ of young designers and ‘product testers’.

Julie Ann continued: “Designing the long hot water bottles was a family effort. Our children are proud to have played a special part in their creation. It’s been great to see our hot water bottles being loved by the children and young people of Rainbows.”
